I have paid off my medical bill to the bill collection company that bought the debt from the hospital. The debt is still on my credit. How do I get it off my credit report?
Reply from DebtCollectionAnswers.com: It's a myth that paying a collection account removes it from your credit reports. In fact, paid collection accounts may be reported for seven years and 180 days from the date you first fell behind with the original creditor. Fortunately, as the information gets older it can have less impact on your credit scores.
