I was wondering how I can go about inquiring who the source of a debt is that appears on my credit report, which I believe originated 15 years ago but is listed under the collection agency's name, without admitting that it is my debt and restarting the statute of limitations over again?

Betsy, you have the right to dispute that debt if you believe it is too old. Disputing it doesn't start the statute of limitations over again.
