Usually contracts with minors cannot be enforced. However, there is sometimes an exception made for necessary medical services provided to a minor. In addition, you may be responsible for the medical bill since some states have laws that hold parents responsible for their children's essential expenses such as medical bills.
If a debt collector in any way threatened or harassed your child that I would strongly suggest you talk with a consumer law attorney to find out whether the debt collector broke the law in its attempt to collect. You can contact a local consumer law attorney with experience in debt collection cases, or call the Collection Complaint Hotline at 888-711-5183 for a free, confidential case evaluation.
