Can a collection agency ask for a judgment if you are willing to pay but not in the time line they are asking for?

Unfortunately Rody the collector can sue you and try to get a judgment if you cannot pay. The collector is not required to accept what you can afford.
You didn't say how large this debt is but it may make sense for you to talk with a bankruptcy attorney to find out if you are judgment proof. If you are you may able to let the collection agency know that you have met with an attorney, and that the attorney says you are judgment proof. The collection agency may then decide it's not worth trying to sue you to collect. That may give you the chance to work out a payment plan you can afford.
