I live in Utah, if I pay off a car loan with the credit union can they keep my title till I pay off some past due loans I have with them?

Our understanding is that most credit union vehicle loans give credit unions the right to take payments from other deposit accounts that you have with them to pay your car loan if you fall behind. This may allow them hold onto the vehicle title if you still owe other debts with them, but we can't say for certain. Our best suggestion is that you read the loan contract.
