As the owner of MR•PR, a national a public relations and marketing firm, Mary has worked with numerous attorneys and personal finance professionals for more than 30 years. Therefore, she understands the challenges that consumers face when they are experiencing financial problems.
Mary also writes about consumer money and legal issues as a ghostwriter or in her own name. To date, she has written or ghostwritten 24 books related to consumer financial and legal matters including four books in the popular For Dummies series.
Prior to establishing MR•PR, Mary was vice president of marketing for a national market research firm, director of marketing for a women’s health organization, and public relations manager for Texas Monthly Magazine and Texas Monthly Press. She also worked as a legislative aide for an Austin, Texas city council member and as a management consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton in Washington, D.C. and for Abt Associates in Cambridge, MA.
Mary has a Masters in Business from Boston University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity University in Washington, D.C.
Gerri is considered one of the nation’s top experts on consumer credit and has been helping consumers understand the world of credit and resolve their credit problems for more than 20 years. She has answered over 10,000 credit questions online.
She is the author or co-author of five books for consumers, including Debt Collection Answers, The Ultimate Credit Handbook (named one of the top five personal finance books of the year by Money magazine), Invest In Yourself: Six Secrets to a Rich Life, Slash Your Debt, and Save Money & Secure Your Future. She has also been interviewed by countless media, including USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Dateline NBC, and The Today Show.
Gerri was education director at Credit.com for ten years and also hosted her own radio show. In addition, she has developed consumer education programs for MasterCard, Bank of America and others, testified before Congress on consumer credit legislation, served on the Consumer Advisory Council of Experian, a national credit reporting agency, and on the board of the National Council for Consumer Education. She is a member of the board of directors of the nonprofit Heroes at Home, which provides free financial education for members of the military and their families.
Currently Gerri works for Nav as its education director. The website provides business owners with simple tools to build strong business credit and financially healthy companies.
