My 19-year old son has a medical debt with my dentist and the collection firm says I am still liable because I signed a "responsibility" form in 2008 when he was still a minor. They say since I still have the same insurance, than the liability statement is still valid. The debt resulted after my son was 18 and, having your adult child on your health insurance policy is not (by itself) a statement assuming liability for their medical expenses. Am I liable or not?
