Utility company trying to collect

by Katrina
(Michigan)

My power company turned off my lights in michigan, now they are calling me ruthlessly demanding their money or payment arrangements? What are my rights?

Our expertise is in helping consumers understand their rights when debt collectors contact them. A utility trying to collect its own debt would not meet the definition of a debt collector, so unfortunately we don't know the answer to your question. We recommend you contact your state public utility commission (MSPC) for information about your rights.
