Unpaid Traffic Tickets
by: debtcollectionanswers.com

It's likely that the IRS is reviewing the details of your tax return to make sure it's accurate because states do not garnish or intercept federal tax returns to collect unpaid traffic tickets. There are only a very limited number of circumstances when your tax return can be taken, and they include if you owe the federal government past due taxes, if you have a past due federally guaranteed student loan or if you owe past due child support.

However, the municipality in CA to whom you owe the past due tickets may decide to sue you for the money you owe. Given that local governments are cash-strapped, a growing number of them are filing such law suits. And, if the municipality wins its lawsuit, it will have a judgment against you. Should that information appear in your credit history, it will be very damaging to your finances, so it would be a good idea to go pay the tickets that you owe rather than tempting fate.
