They Keep Calling About Relative's Debt

by Karen
(Maryland)

I keep receiving phone calls from this firm in regards to a debt they are attempting to collect from a family member. this family member has NEVER lived with me, we have never signed anything on their behalf (i.e. cosignor of any loan) yet they continue to call and harass me !!

(866 XXX XXXX) is the phone number
david wheeler is the agent

funny, he got angry because i was mad at them for their continued phone calls to me (even after i've spoken with them and informed them this does not pertain to me in any way)

Reply from DebtCollectionAnswers.com:

Karen, you don't have to put up with this. If you've told them to stop calling you and indicated that you can't provide any additional information, those calls should stop. You can file a complaint with the FTC and your state attorney general's office (and send a copy to NCO while you are at it) and/or you can consult a consumer law attorney who may be more than happy to take your case on a contingent fee basis, which means there is no fee unless you win. (And the collection agency must pay the attorney's fees if you win.)

You can talk with a local consumer law attorney with experience in debt collection cases, or call the Collection Complaint Hotline at 888-711-5183 for a free, confidential case evaluation.
