Statute of limitation in Colorado and medical debt

by Sherrie
(Colorado)

What is the statute of limitation on medical debt in the state of Colorado? I have heard 3 years and I have also heard 6 years. The 3 years seems to depend on whether it was a contract for goods and services. The statute may not be 3 years or even 6 years for medical debt. I fell behind on the debts in late 2006-early 2007 and have not paid since.

Thanks for submitting your debt collection question on our Q&A page. .

I am afraid that I cannot provide you with a definitive answer to your question. I recommend that you contact the consumer affairs office of your state's attorney general. Someone there should be able to tell you for sure.

Good luck!
