Yesterday a debt collector froze my safe deposit box. Can they do this? I am on ssi!

Has this debt collector already won a court judgment against you already? That may make a difference in terms of what they can do to collect from you.

In any case, you're going to have to get an attorney's help with this. Find out how to get FREE or low cost legal advice about debt collection from a consumer law attorney here.

If they can't help you, then my next suggestion would be for you to set up a free consultation with a bankruptcy attorney who can layout your options for dealing with this debt collector.
