Split insurance from husband (later to become divorced) and I'm being contacted by debt collectors for his missed payments after the split?

I split my health insurance with my husband in March 2012 as we were separated. My health insurance contacted me saying that the split would take place by 5/1/12, which it did.

Now I'm being contacted by debt collectors for 2 missed payments by my husband in August/September 2012. I have all the information saying that the health insurance was split by May 2012.

My question is, am I still responsible for this debt because we were still married (separated) at the time of the missed payments?

I am unclear about what you mean by "splitting" your health insurance with your husband. Are you saying that you maintained a joint policy but the insurer billed each of you for one-half of the cost? If yes, then you continued to own the policy together so regardless of the split, you were both responsible for the full amount of the policy cost. It did not matter that you had separated. If you were both originally responsible for the policy payments, your separation did not change that despite the fact that the insurance company agreed to bill each of you for one-half the cost.
