Questionable Tactics Of Collection Agency

by cassandra
(north brunswick,nj)

i am currently receiving permanent disability and social security benefits and have received a letter from a collection agency threatening to garnish my check. is that possible?

Reply from DebtCollectionAnswers.com:

Typically those benefits are safe from creditors. You may even be judgment proof.

If a collector is threatening to take funds that are exempt, it may be breaking the law. You may want to contact a local consumer law attorney with experience in debt collection cases. Find out how to get FREE or low cost legal advice about debt collection from a consumer law attorney here.
