Paid settlement amount

I received a settlement offer from Afni, Inc, for an old telephone/ ISP bill (statute of limitations has not passed). I paid the amount requested, which was less than I had hoped to settle for. should I expect this to go away now, or will they just sell the rest of the debt to another company?
