reporting of collection accounts
by: Gerri

Collection accounts may be reported for seven and a half years from the date you first fell behind with the original creditor. When they were paid is irrelevant. Having said that, if any of the dates on the collection account are incorrect, you can dispute them with the credit reporting agency. If the account is not confirmed, it will be removed from your report. You can read our article on how to dispute credit report errors.
