old defaulted student loan

by Linda
(omaha, Ne, USA)

35 years ago I had a student loan that is now in default originally it was for $2000 it is now 16000. They have been taking my tax returns for years. Now I am being harassed by ERS to make payments or they are threatening garnishments against wages.

Linda,

We don't have an easy answer for you. Student loans carry very few consumer protections. The best we can recommend you contact the following websites:

StudentLoanJustice.org
ProjectonStudentDebt.org
