I had a man call me from this company and demand payment of a bill that was to be paid by my insurance company my ins pays all bills in full. After telling him this he said that I still owed the money then I told I do not owe the money and furthermore under NJ statute of limitations the bill was too old. When I told him not to call no more he said I would still receive calls. So i reported the company to the bbb.org

Stopping collection calls
by: DebtCollectionAnswers.com

Thomas,

It sounds like you know your rights. A few more suggestions for you:

1. File your complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. They enforce the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

2. If you have told a collection agency to stop calling and it continues to do so, it has likely broken the law. Keep notes of any future conversations - you can use our Free Debt Collection Worksheet for that - and if they call again, contact a consumer law attorney immediately.

If it seems like the debt collector is breaking the law, talk with a consumer law attorney. Find out how to get free legal advice from an attorney here. There is no fee unless you recover.
