Name off of Mobile Home

I am trying to get my name off a mobile home that was repossessed in 2003. I bought a mobile on April 4, 1995 and was living in the trailer until February 2002. I moved out and moved into an apartment, my ex husband moved back in at that time. In 2003 he decided he didn't want to make the payments anymore, so I called Green Tree and told them to pick the trailer up. Green Tree repoed the mobile home on November 13, 2003.
The mobile home was sold again in 2004 to someone else, and I am finding out she has taxes due from other counties and I am recieving those letters telling me I am late or need to pay these taxes are I am going to be sued. I just found out Green Tree never took my name off the mobile home it is listed on the internet as my mobile home. How can I get my name off of the mobile home?

Name off of Mobile Home

Every state has its own laws regarding titles to mobile homes. I am not an attorney nor am I familiar with the laws relating to mobile homes in Texas. However, here is what I recommend you do to try to resolve your problem.

First, contact Green Tree. You can begin with a phone call to the company, but I would follow up the call with a letter stating your problem and asking Green Tree to resolve it for you. Make a copy of your letter for your files and send the letter to the company certified mail with a return receipt requested. Title to the mobile home should have been changed into the new owner's name when the home was sold.

If Green Tree does not help you resolve your problem, contact the Manufactured Housing Division of the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, to find out what it recommends.

Worst case scenario, you may have to hire a consumer law attorney in your area to help you resolve your problem. Title problems can be complicated.
