SBA loan and tax refund interception
by: Gerri

Thanks for submitting your debt collection question on our Q&A page.

I spoke with an official at the SBA. Unfortunately, he was unable to offer me a alternative to having your tax refund intercepted to pay off your SBA loan. I assume you fell behind on your SBA loan and it was eventually charged off by the lender. At that point the SBA must pursue all available alternatives since the loan was guaranteed by the government. (You can think of it as similar to owing tax debt.)

My best suggestion is for you to set up a free consultation with a bankruptcy attorney who can help you understand your options for dealing with this debt.

I hope this helps. Please let me know how it turns out.
