A debt collector is charging me with a product i never purchased. An ex girlfriend bought it with her credit card putting the item to my name. Can i be charged for sonething that i didnt purchase with my own money even if she used her own credit card??

No. But what your ex girlfriend did was fraudulent if you didn't agree to the purchase. Still, a certified letter to the collection agency stating that this is not your debt should do the trick. If it doesn't, then contact a consumer law attorney.

As I understand from your question, you used to live with your former boyfriend and now, the utility company has added your unpaid utility bill to his bill. The utility can do that if your boyfriend was on the utility account that you did not pay or if your ex guaranteed payment on that account.

If you have any other questions about this matter, I recommend that you call the consumer affairs office of your state Public Utility Commission. Someone in that office should be able to help you.
