lien on your home
by: Gerri

Can you tell me a little more about what's going on? What kind of debt you owe? How old is it? Is it a creditor or collector who is threatening a lien? Is this your primary residence?

Generally, a creditor collector must first take you to court and get a judgment before trying to go after your assets. In Florida, you have generally unlimited homestead exemptions. That means it typically the equity in your home is protected from creditors.
