Library sent me to collections for debt when i was 8 yrs old

I live in Washington state and the library sent me to collections for $132 for a few books and movies i checked out and supposedly didn't return when i was 8 years old in 2001. since the debt was incurred before i turned 18 is it still legal for them to send me to collections?

Reply from DebtCollectionAnswers.com: Generally a contract with a minor can't be enforced. Have you tried disputing this with the collection agency? Have you checked your credit reports to see if these debts are listed? If you cannot get the collection agency to drop the matter or if it is hurting your credit reports, we would suggest you go ahead and talk with a consumer law attorney.
