Judgment on credit card debt

by Ramona
(Houston, Tx)

I had a credit card that the account was opened in 3/15/2000 and the account was chardged off on 5/30/2003. I have received a letter from an attorney that they will put a judgment. Can they do that on an old account?

Reply from DebtCollectionAnswers.com:

It sounds like this old debt could be outside the statute of limitations. If it is, then this threat is illegal. We would urge you to get a free consultation with a consumer law attorney as soon as possible.
