Is It Legal To Charge Fees On Inactive Accounts

i hadn't used my TD bank account for several month maybe close to a year....... when i went back to work and submitted my direct deposit information everything was fine until my cheques didn't get deposited. i called the bank and they informed me that my account was closed however they racked up a $207.00 bill with fees. Now i have collectors calling me for the $ and have added another 70$ on in interest.... they aren't even willing to make a payment plan so i can pay it they want full payment by tomorrow - what are my options?
