You may be responsible for his debts regardless of your living arrangements. For example, if you live in a community property state -- Arizona, California, Idaho, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, Washington, or Wisconsin -- then you are each legally liable for one another's unpaid debts. If you live in a separate property state, you may or may not be. Ordinarily, spouses in these states are not legally obligated for the other's debts assuming the debts are not joint debts; however, some separate property states make an exception when it comes to medical debt.

If you want a specific answer to your question, contact a consumer law attorney in your area.

Nebraska is not a community property state so generally, debt incurred by one spouse is not the responsibility of the other spouse unless it's joint debt -- you signed for it, for example. However, if you want to be 100% sure that you are not legally obligated to pay your husband's medical debt, I recommend that you talk with a consumer law attorney in your area who helps consumers resolve their debt collection problems.
