IAC & Associates (IEC?)

(Arizona)

I am receiving harassing calls daily from a company at 440-776-8923 and 440-776-8937. I have repeatedly told them that the person they are looking for does not live here nor do I know how to contact them. I have asked them numerous times to take my number off their list. They refuse to do so.

I asked what company they were and was told IAC (IEC?) & Associates, the man said his name was Frank Barlow. It seems from reading the web there are several complaints against this company. Is it legal to harass people who you are not looking for and owe no debt?

Reply from DebtCollectionAnswers.com:

No it is not legitimate for a debt collector to harass you for a debt that is not yours. Have you figured out whether this is a real debt collector (and not a debt collection scam originating from overseas?) Either way you should file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC.gov) and your state attorney general's office. Next time they call tell them you would like to record the conversation so you can hand the recording over to the FTC. Our guess is they will stop.

thank you for your help. I wrote to the attorney general's office in Ohio where this company is located - I will also record their call and contact the FTC if they don't stop calling. Thanks again!
