Tracking down collection accounts
by: DebtCollectionAnswers.com

Karissa,

It can be really frustrating when you want to clean up your credit but can't figure out how to do that!

There is no surefire way to track down all the collection accounts you may owe. Your credit reports will likely help, and you can get them free from all three major national agencies at AnnualCreditReport.com. Beyond that, however, there may be accounts that are in limbo and could be sold to other collectors in the future.

Keep a file where you store all this information, and be sure to keep copies of everything! Also make sure you keep excellent records of any payments you make on these accounts.

Use our Free Debt Collection Worksheet and take notes every time you talk with a collector, then save them.

The problem is that sometimes these debts are bought and sold to multiple agencies and the last thing you want to do is pay the same debt twice.
