your auto repossession

In our e-book Debt Collection Answers, we talk about how important it is to remove personal items from your vehicle if you are behind on payments. Otherwise, it can be difficult to get them back.

We honestly don't know how you would pursue recovering the value of your GPS - or even if you can. But there is a bigger issue to consider here, and that is whether you will owe a deficiency judgment for the difference between what you owe and what the vehicle is sold for.

If you haven't done so already, it would be a good idea to set up a a bankruptcy attorney to find out what your rights and options are if the lender decides to come after you for a deficiency. They should also be able to tell you whether it makes sense to pursue compensation for the damaged GPS.
