When you are in the market for a debt settlement company, it's extremely important to research your options carefully because many firms in the industry prey on consumers with too much debt by charging them very large up-front fees and not always doing what they promise they will do, among other things. Also, many settlement firms are not clear with consumers about the negative consequences of settling debt. In fact, problems with settlement firms have become so bad that the federal government is expected to adopt strict new rules to better control what they can and cannot do when dealing with consumers.
I do know a fair and ethical settlement firm however. It's called Consumer Recovery Network (CRN).
