Debt Collection for minor in Florida
I was a minor when I had to be taken to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy. Now I am an adult and there is a collection agency that is trying to say that the bill is under my responsibility to be paid. Is it?

In most states, minors aren't able to enter into contracts. Therefore, they typically can't be sued for these debts as adults. However, keep in mind that the collectors may still be able to try to collect from your parents, who may be liable for the medical bills you incurred while in their care. You can read more about that issue here: medical bills and minors
The collection agency may back down if you send them a certified letter telling them that you were under the age of 18 when you received these services. If that doesn't work you can talk with a consumer law attorney to find out for certain what they can and cannot do to collect from you.
