Credit reporting and a past due debt

IS IT LEGAL FOR A CREDITOR TO ONLY REPORT NEGATIVE INFORMATION ON ONE DEBTOR INSTEAD OF BOTH PARTIES. IF THE OTHER PARTY WAS THE BORROWER AND I WAS THE CO BORROWER WHY IS ALL THE NEGATIVE INFORMATION SHOWING ON MY CREDIT REPORT AND NOT HIS. CAN I DISPUTE THIS?

Credit reporting and a past due debt

I am not sure why the creditor is reporting the past due debt to the credit reporting agencies in your name only when two people signed for the debt, but there is no law prohibiting it from doing so. You can bring it to the attention of the creditor, but it may not change things and doing so will have no affect on your credit history. The negative information will remain there.
