credit checks by debt collectors
by: Gerri

What is this collector thinking? I mean seriously, this debt is probably outside the statute of limitations (which according to my sources is typically four years in TX) and it sure sounds like the debt collector is just trying to harass you by pulling your credit report repeatedly and damaging your credit. He could potentially be breaking two federal laws, and possibly state laws as well.

Subscribe to a service that allows you to monitor your credit reports and call a consumer law attorney with experience in debt collection law. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act allows you to sue for illegal harrassment and you may be entitled to attorey fees and damages. You may also have a case for credit damage.

Tip: You can talk with a consumer law attorney with experience in debt collection cases. Learn how to get low cost or FREE legal help with your debt collection problem here.
