Continued harrassing phone calls even after a debt is settled in full

by JT
(Missouri)

My insurance company has paid off my car after it having been totaled. TK finance keeps calling and harassing me even though payment has been made and the account has been paid in full. What, is any, recourse do i have against them?

Reply from DebtCollectionAnswers.com:

Talk with a consumer law attorney. It may be illegal for them to continue to try to collect from you. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act prohibits collectors from misrepresenting the character or status of a debt. The attorney can help you determine if this company is breaking the law, and if so, how to proceed.

You can reach out to a local consumer law attorney with experience in debt collection cases. Find out how to get FREE or low cost legal advice about debt collection from a consumer law attorney here.
