COLLECTIONS DEBT

The collection agency keep sending me debit letter that I owe money after I inform them that I am unemployed for over 20 years. And my only income is social security disability benefits.

I do not owe any credit card debit money. Will I loose my disability benefits for not paying off the debt I owe? Or will I go to jail?

Collection agency

Your SS is protected, you do not need to worry about that. All you need to do is write the collections agency a cease and desist letter letter, that is a letter telling them to stop calling you and, by law, they have to stop. Since you are on SS, they will not sue you and they have no further recourse.

your collection problem - debt not yours

Jeremiah,

First, we don't think you should worry about losing your disability payments because a debt collector is after you. In fact, in most cases disability payments are protected from creditors.

Your question raises several questions for us. Do you have any idea why you are getting this letter? have a mixed you up with someone else? If that's the case, please read our advice on what to do when you are being contacted for someone else's debt.
