debt collection and business acounts

Thanks for asking your question about business debt collection on our question and answer page.

The federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act applies to consumer debts, not to business debts. For most types of consumer debts, the creditor or debt collector must first take you to court and get a judgment before it can get at funds in your bank account. But I don't know if that is true of busines debts.

The best thing you can do right now is to set up a free consultation with a bankruptcy attorney. The attorney will be able to tell you what will happen if you are unable to pay your bills, and help you understand your options.

I hope this works out for you.
