medical collection on credit report

Dieter,

I assume what happened here is that you had a medical bill that your insurance company was slow to pay and so it ended up on your credit reports as a collection account before was resolved.

The easiest thing for you to do is to try to dispute it through the credit reporting agencies. Since you already have a copy of your credit report, you can follow the instructions for disputing the item there. If you didn't get your credit report from all three credit reporting agencies, then you will want to do so through Annualcreditreport.com.

If the collection agency does not confirm the item it will be removed from your credit reports. If this does not resolve the matter, then you are going to have to fight with the collection agency to remove it. Hopefully they will be cooperative, but if they aren't, you may have to talk with the consumer law attorney.

Let's hope it doesn't get to that point.
