 collection after settled debt

Thanks for submitting your debt collection question on our Q&A page.

Ugh. We hear stories all the time of multiple collection agencies going after the same debt. But we don't usually hear about an original creditor trying to collect after the collection agency collected!

Do you have anything in writing that describes the fact that you settled the collection agency? How about a copy of the canceled check? How old is this debt?
