I assume you mean Social Security survivor benefits? To my knowledge, those payments are usually protected from creditors.

However, I would encourage you to at least
get a free consultation with a bankruptcy attorney so you can find out what property is safe and what may be at risk.

In addition, that information may help you determine how to proceed in your negotiations with the collector.
