I was a minor at the time of this charge and the company is now saying that since I am an adult that it is my responsibility. Is this true?

If you were a minor at the time of service, you are not responsible for the unpaid medical bill. Your parents are. Have you spoken with your parents about paying the bill?

I suggest that you write the company that is contacting you about the debt a letter stating that you are not legally responsible for medical debt that was incurred when you were a minor because minors cannot enter into contracts. Therefore, you do not want to be contacted about the debt again, Make a copy of the letter for your files and send it to the company via certified mail with a return receipt requested.

If the company continues to demand that you pay the debt, schedule a free consultation with a consumer law attorney.
