Chapter 7 Bankruptcy and Debts Owed to Hospital

by TJ

I have filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. On my schedules I listed a hospital bill that was listed on my credit report but recently found another bill for the same hospital but different collection agency. I did not list this collection agency for the hospital, do I need to amend and add this agency also? It is for the same hospital but different collection agency.

I am not a bankruptcy attorney, but I do know that any debts that are not listed on your schedule of debts will not be included in your bankruptcy and so you will still owe them once your bankruptcy is over. Therefore, you should amend your schedule to include the other debt.

If you have any questions about your bankruptcy or need help amending your schedule, I strongly advise that you consult with a bankruptcy attorney, even if all you do is buy an hour of the attorney's time. Bankruptcy is a very complicated process and the attorney can make sure that you fully benefit from it.

Good luck!
