Can I get bad credit from subscribing a magazine?

I got a free first issue from cosmo but then I didn't want anymore but I forgot about it then they kept sending me a bill to pay, but then I just thought that I didn't want anymore so I don't need to pay, and they never send me an other issues also, but then recently they send a letter saying They were gonna send me to collection because I'm no paying.

But why would I pay if they never send me the products, and how can they send me to collection without my SSN anyways? Can they do that to me? Thanks
