Can Collector Go After My Bank Account?

by Aaron
(riverside county, ca)

I currently have a wage garnishment being taken out of my check at work for 25% of my disposable earnings. Can they nab money out of my bank account as well?

Reply from DebtCollectionAnswers.com:

Generally, when a creditor or collector has a judgment against you, any property that is not exempt may be fair game. We would recommend you get a a
a free consult with a bankruptcy attorney who can explain to you what property you own is safe and what is at risk. There are state and federal exemptions, so a bankruptcy attorney is the best person to consult for that kind of question.
