Can a Debt Collector Take Assets in a Safety Deposit Box
by: Debtcollectionanswers.com

I am not an attorney so I cannot give you a 100% definitive answer to your question. However, I believe that a collector could in fact take the assets in your safe deposit box if the collector successfully sued you first, won a judgment against you, got the court's permission to go after those assets to satisfy the judgment, and if the assets in your safe deposit box are not exempt from collections under your state's law. I recommend that you confirm my information by contacting a consumer law attorney in your area who helps people resolve problems with debt collectors.
