Bill for work at my home I did not authorize

March 24 ,2011. A waterhose that leads to the dishwasher erupted around 4am. I got up at 6am and saw the leak. I called my insurance company. At about 11am I got a call from Puro clean(cleanig company for water damage) that they were on there way. When they arrived, one of the guys approaches me, introduces hiself and tells me who he works for, hands me a contract and discusses it with me. I left to the store and when I get back, there are more guys inside my home removing the floor.I called the insurance to ask if they had sent them to do the job. The insurance said no. I asked the guys who they worked for and they said Southeast Restoration.I did not call them or my insurance agent to make any arrangement with them about working inside my home. I asked them to stop and leave my house. The guy in charge, asked me to pay him $250 if I didn't want him to finish the job. He said that Puro clean told them about the water damage. I recently got a bill for over $1500.00 and is threaten to send it to collections. I never signed anything or made any type of agreement. The insurance will not pay them since they dont have a contract so they want me to pay them.

You need an attorney's help to sort out your problem. Therefore, I recommend that you schedule an appointment with a consumer law attorney in your area. Your first appointment should be free.
