I am being sued for medical bills I never received statements on. I called the day before I was served and asked for my balance. I sent them a check, and they voided it and sent it back to me. Sorry, it's not ALWAYS the Consumers fault.

Being Sued for Medical Debt

So sorry about your legal problems.

It's always a good idea to meet with an attorney when you are sued so that you can discuss the best way to respond to the lawsuit. Therefore, schedule an appointment right away with a consumer law attorney in your area who helps people resolve their debt collection problems. Your first appointment will probably be free, but you should confirm that fact when you call to schedule your appointment.

By the way, if you have enough money to settle your debt you should have tried settling before you got sued. If you and your creditor had been able to reach a settlement agreement, then you would not be be dealing with the hassles and expense of a lawsuit now and there would be no lawsuit in your credit history -- information that will be very damaging to that history.

Best of luck resolving your problem.
