Bad Debt included in the address
by: Debtcollectionanswers.com

The federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act debt collector is not allowed to include any language on an envelope other than the collection agency's name and address that might indicate that the letter relates to a debt that is in collections. Therefore, it would appear that by including the words "bad debt" on the envelope the agency has violated the law. I recommend that you schedule a free consultation with a consumer law attorney.
