A collection agency forced me to pay my son's debt

by Lucecio
(houston, texas, harris)

What can I do? I just learned that they cannot take away my home and that the debt was not transferable from sons to parents.

son's debt

Lucecio -

It sounds like you are saying that a debt collector misrepresented your son's debt to you, and told you that you could lose your home if you did not pay it. That sounds like a potentially illegal threat. If a debt collector breaks the law, it may be liable for damages in force to pay your attorney fees. So it's worth pursuing.

I would strongly encourage you to talk with a consumer law attorney. We would strongly recommend you talk with a consumer law attorney with experience in debt collection cases. Find out how to get a FREE consultation with a consumer law attorney here. There is no fee unless you win a case, so there really is no reason for you not to pursue this.

Will you let me know what the attorney says? You can use the comments link below to tell us what happens.
